The Topic
Dreams are a precious resource, offering us information, guidance and insight from our unconscious every night (and sometimes during daylight, too). What is the place of dreamwork in coaching? Do you ever ask coaching clients about their dreams? Have you ever dreamt about a client? This webinar will introduce some Lacanian-informed practical approaches to working with dreams in the context of coaching engagements. Avid dreamworkers and those who rarely if ever recall or work with dreams are equally welcome.
This webinar follows Leslie’s prior sessions on applications of Lacanian theory to the practice of coaching. While the body of Lacanian theory is vast and has a reputation for being dense and difficult to understand, Leslie will distill a few kernels to stimulate practitioners’ thinking and offer ideas that can be immediately applied. This webinar will be useful even for those who have never previously heard of Lacan.
The Agenda
In the first half of the webinar, Leslie will make her presentation and facilitate initial responses.
In the second half, we'll move into a reflection-application session:
- 'Composting': experienced peers work the material in small groups to sprout new ideas;
- 'Weaving': attendees gather to collectively reflect and question, weaving our experiences together;
- Discuss how we will apply learnings to our personal practice in Reflection Application Pairs (RAPs).
The Speakers
Leslie practices as an analytic coach, working with leaders to hear the unconscious at work in organizational life. Leslie earned her M.A. from UCLA and B.A. from UC Berkeley and is currently a Candidate Scholar at the Lacanian School of Psychoanalysis. She holds the PCC credential from the International Coach Federation and a Master Coach certification from the Hudson Institute of Coaching, where she is a member of the faculty.
